When Stan first walked into the AdMac Fitness studio aged 17, his mum was right beside him. He wasn’t quite kicking and screaming, but it was close enough. It’s safe to say strength training wasn’t love at first sight! Those early sessions were often a bit of a grind, and getting him to show up consistently wasn’t always easy.
A huge shoutout has to go to Stan’s mum during those first few years. Her persistence and belief in the coaches and the process kept him coming back, right through college, even when his heart wasn’t fully in it yet.
Then came university, and everything started to shift.
Stan began working with our Head Coach, Kie, and we watched a different young man emerge. He started arriving at sessions with a quiet confidence, not just in himself as a person, but in his growing ability in the gym. The lifts were getting heavier, and more importantly, he was starting to enjoy the process.
Fast forward a few years, and Stan has firmly established himself as a very promising powerlifter. His squat, hip thrust, and deadlift have reached seriously impressive numbers, and after some focused work on shoulder stability, his bench press is now catching up nicely, too.
As the owner of Admac Fitness, Stan’s journey has been one of my absolute favourite transformations over the last seven years. It’s not just about the big numbers he’s hitting — it’s about the character, discipline, and self-belief he’s built along the way.
This is what happens when you stick with something through the tough early days. Strength training doesn’t just change your body — it builds quiet confidence that carries into every other area of your life.
